A Brief History:
Origination: The holiday was derived on April 7, 2011, when the UN General Assembly declared April 12th to be the yearly International Day of Human Space Flight–celebrating the first human space flight’s anniversary. They chose April 12th because it was was the day that the first human space flight with Yuri Gagarin of the Soviet Union manned in 1961.

More About the First Flight: In 1957, the Soviet Union launched the first human-made satellite into outer space, called the Sputnik I mission. Then only four years later, another historic launch transpired on April 12th, 1961. Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin carried out the first human space flight in the Vostok 1, completing the first orbit of Earth in just over 108 minutes.

A celebration: Recognized each year across the world, a whole day that encourages space lovers to celebrate entering the space age.

Celebrated: Since the year 2011, on April 12th every year!

The Present:
The NASA program is having a communications breakdown. If you can follow it better, and wish to share suggestions. . . please leave a comment or contact me at the Contact Form. I have always followed NASA, and haven’t experienced such disarray in years!

The Future:
Let’s receive great thanks and enjoy times that have transpired over the years. If the U.S. wants to stay on top, an initiative is necessary in order to re-establish being the number one space entity, to last into the years to come. . .
