The pick for 2024’s favorites will happen one year from now, along with new 2024 picks from every year. In the meantime, pick either one of the four, or any of the photos on this page! A giveaway for you to pick your favorite 2023 “Photo of the Day” is below and your favorites will be recorded and the most popular photo will be featured in a early September post. Two picks, one with your favorite photo in this post, and one from any other post, anywhere in the Versatileer website. Scroll through this post, and select a favorite photo!
2023’s Pick of Year 2022:
#Winter:
Featured Photo: Winter Weather Special – 107th Street near Saganashkee Slough:
ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED: Mar 11, 2022:

Reason for my pick: The amazing rescue of an otherwise easily put-it-in-the-trash photo. The photo shows just how with a little work, you are able to digitally restore and equalize either badly exposed, or any reason under the sun for a photo to be exposed improperly. It was featured in “Photo of the Day/Winter Weather Photos” at 107th Street near Saganashkee Slough.
Photo #3 is the final draft photo, digitally rescued by the software program HDR Project 2018 (64-bit) – Version 6.64.02783 by Franzis Verlag on the “Landscape bicolor 2” setting with denoising and also manual color shift to exchange the colors red with blue. Byu doing this the color and tint of snow was only handled without adding any unacceptable coloring to the snow area, yet the sky, even though they really were grey, was able to be turned a hue of blue that looks more natural. After the photo was corrected, the photo depicts closer to the normal cloudy day color photo that it should have reflected, despite the artificially blue sky.

2023’s Pick of Year 2021:
#Autumn:
Featured Photo: The Beauty of Fall Color – Day 5:
ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED: Oct 23, 2021:

Reason for my pick: The amazing placement of the sun minutes before setting, the shadow role behind the trees and exposure. It was featured in “Fall Color – The Beauty of Autumn” at Yankee Woods, between Oak Forest and Tinley Park, Illinois.
Photo taken with a Samsung Galaxy A20 with the factory Dual Pixel 12MP OIS F1.7 lens and 1.4µm pixels with vDIS=ON.

2023’s Pick of Year 2020:
#Lake:
Featured Photo: Everglades from The Bee Line – Florida:
ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED: Aug 8, 2020:

Reason for my pick: The color featuring color of waning sun, shadow role on the lake and exposure. It was featured in “Photo of the Day” featuring Florida (Everglades).
Photo taken with a Nikon FE camera through a Nikon 26 mm lens, filter=polarizer, Aperture=11 f/stop, shutter-speed 1/125th second, loaded with Fujicolor 400 Color 135 Negative Film processed with C-41 Processing Chemicals, and a Type C Print using the RA-4 enlargement paper process, onto a 3½x5″ semi-gloss print.

2023’s Pick of Year 2019:
#FallColor:
Photo of the Day: 10/5/19:
ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED: Oct 5, 2019:

Reason for my pick: The inadvertent angle of the sun, shadow role and exposure. It was featured in “Photo of the Day” featuring Fall Color/Landscapes, Bachelors Grove in the Cook County forest preserves near Midlothian Turnpike in Illinois.
Photo taken with a Nikon EM camera through a Nikon 26 mm lens, filter=NONE, Aperture=16 f/stop, shutter-speed 1/60th second, loaded with Konica ISO (ASA) 100 Color 135-20 Negative Film processed with C-41 Processing Chemicals, and a Type C Print using the RA-4 enlargement paper process, onto a 4X6″ semi-gloss print.
