A Brief History:
Premise: Rural America and all Americans love those farm animals! National Farm Animals Day, a holiday focusing on paying special attention to livestock. The day also shifts focus on the humane care of farm animals, and also aiming to find homes for abandoned and abused farm animals.
Statistics: The Earth currently has an abundant amount of chickens, cattle, and pigs being raised as livestock. There are also an abundant amount of non-livestock farm animals including horses. With this figure, humanity for all of these animals gives a lot of deserving care.
The Effect: Spending time trying to get the attention and care that each animal needs, and also finding an answer to delivering the care are two main goals .
Other Actions We Can Take: Loving, thanks, grace and appreciation to all the livestock nationwide and worldwide!
Making Today Extra Special: Giving thanks to your local farmer for delivering the love and attention each animal deserves.
Appreciation Every Day: Getting answers to the better care and solutions to lack of humane treatment of livestock are an ultimate goal.
Celebrated: On April 10th every year!

- 518.3 million chickens in the U.S.; 22.8 billion chickens worldwide.
- 9.40 million milk cows in the U.S., 34.5 million calf stock in the U.S.; 1.5 billion cattle worldwide.
- 5.2 million sheep and lambs in the U.S.; 1.2 billion sheep worldwide.
- 34.2 million ducks in the U.S.; 1.2 billion ducks worldwide.
- 2.55 million goats in the U.S.; 1 billion goats worldwide.
- 72.2 million hogs/pigs in the U.S.; 967 million hogs/pigs worldwide.
- Horses are not considered livestock, but they are considered farm animals. There are 7.2 million horses in the U.S. There are 60 million worldwide.
