Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day: Hybrid Creeping ‘Pink Sparkles’ Phlox & the ‘Canary Bird’ Zinnia

Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let this year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flowers of the day are the Hybrid Creeping ‘Pink Sparkles’ Phlox & the ‘Canary Bird’ Zinnia.

  1. The Hybrid Creeping ‘Pink Sparkles’ Phlox, or the Phlox subulata ‘Pink Sparkles’ is a Phlox that produce very fragrant flowers and are a soft, baby pink flower with lighter halos at the centers. The earliest of the series to bloom with the largest flowers of the Phlox. The Hybrid Creeping ‘Pink Sparkles’ Phlox produce soft, baby pink flowers that grow to 1½ inches in diameter. They are almost double the size of most other Phlox. Making very beautiful groundcover, this version of Phlox is salt tolerant, with incredible flowering performance in spring. Like most Phlox, this version Phlox grows in mini-groves of plants amounting to over the standard size of 9-12 in. tall, 9-12 in. wide, and grow best in the partial shade with a moist sand well-drained soil type.
  2. The ‘Canary Bird’ Zinnia or the Zinnia Elegans has 4-5 inch wide flowers that are bright yellow. This species is native to Mexico, and plants are fast-growing and long-blooming. Zinnias are good cut flowers. In addition, they are excellent for pollinator plantings and are especially attractive to butterflies. The ‘Canary Bird’ Zinnia grows to the size of 3 to 3½ feet tall and like growing in the full sun, with rich soil, and moderate moisture to attain perfection.

  1. Such beautiful pix of beautiful flowers. I love both phlox and zinnias. (Really love how the phlox creeps around and spreads out).
