A photographic wrap up of the recent total lunar eclipse that was seen in the Americas, Europe and Africa. The eclipse started at 8:32 p.m. on 5/16/2002 and ended at 1:50 a.m. CDT on 5/16/2002. The totality started at 10:29 p.m. and ended 11:53 p.m. on 5/16/2002, with maximum totality at 11:11 p.m. The whole event spanned 5 hours and 19 minutes, and the totality stage lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes. The event was considered the “Prime Time” total lunar eclipse, and it was also a super moon and a blood moon. The Moon was considered a super-moon when it happens when the moon enters Earth’s shadow and gets very close. This event was the second eclipse this year and the first lunar eclipse this year.. What a super astronomical event this was, and weather in my area–in Illinois, the weather exposed the maximum part, but weather did not permit the whole event.  Despite the let down, being able to see the total eclipse was absolutely great!!
