Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day: The Wild Daffodil or Lent Lily
Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let this year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the The Wild Daffodil or Lent Lily.
The Lent Lily commonly known as the Wild Daffodil, or the Narcissus pseudonarcissus is an early spring species that has pale yellow tepals, with a darker yellow central corona, or trumpet, with long, narrow leaves are that are slightly grey-green in color. The Wild Daffodils rise from the base of the stem and grow from a bulb. The flowers actually produce seeds, which when they germinate, take about five to seven years in order to produce a flowering plant. They appear singly or in clusters atop of stems that rise and grow from 6 inches to 30 inches, depending on the location, age and other factors. The Wild Daffodil is native to Western Europe and migrated to areas near Australia, the Falkland Islands, the Balkans, then migrated west into parts of Canada, and the United States. The Wild Daffodils are best sited in beds, borders, wild gardens, open woodland areas, in front of shrubs, or massed underneath trees. Wild Daffodils do best in full sun to part shade.
