Happy American Eagle Day!

Today is National American Eagle Day for 2025, a day that celebrates our national emblem, the magnificent eagle, and also promotes awareness regarding the conservation of the Bald Eagle. This observance also advocates for the restoration of their natural habitats while offering educational initiatives on methods to ensure the safety of eagles.. . .

Happy Save the Eagles Day ! !

A Brief History:
A Legacy: The bald eagle was formally designated as the national emblem of the United States on June 20, 1782, when it was included in the Great Seal of the United States. It was selected for its longevity, immense strength, regal appearance, and because it was thought to be exclusive to North America. Additionally, the eagle has a rich history as a representation of power and authority, tracing back to ancient Rome.

What is a Bald Eagle? An adult female Bald Eagle possesses a wingspan of 2 meters (7 feet) and has a weight ranging from 3 to 7 kilograms (7 to 15 pounds). Males are somewhat smaller, yet they remain considerably large when compared to other avian species. Eagles are monogamous and typically have a lifespan of 20 to 30 years. As a formidable bird of prey, an eagle’s acute vision is complemented by strong muscles, sharp talons, and a formidable beak, equipping them perfectly for hunting.

The Great American Seal: The Continental Congress assigned Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson the task of creating a seal for the nation. Following several unsuccessful attempts, Charles Thomson, the Secretary of Congress, completed the design, which featured the bald eagle. The fierce beauty and independence of the bald eagle were regarded as appropriate symbols for the newly established United States, embodying strength and freedom.

More About Dedication of the Day:  The eagle had served as a symbol of power across various cultures, including the Roman Empire, which played a role in the Founding Fathers’ decision. The bald eagle’s exclusive presence in North America at that time further influenced its selection as a representation of American uniqueness. The decision to adopt the bald eagle occurred during a period when the nation was newly established and striving to define its identity and authority.

When:  June 20th commemorates National American Eagle Day every year, annually.

A Few Facts:

I am sharing a few facts, and more, some trivia, some not trivial. . .

About the Eagle:
Eagles do not constitute a natural taxonomic group; instead, the term refers to various species of birds of prey that are large enough to hunt significant vertebrates, typically measuring approximately 50 centimeters or more in length. Bald Eagles are acknowledged as some of the fastest avian species, capable of soaring to heights of 15,000 feet. They usually fly at an average speed of 50 miles per hour, but can reach speeds of 100 miles per hour during a dive to capture their prey.. I observed these magnificent creatures during a tour at NASA in March 1997, where the tour guide mentioned that they would soon be migrating north to Minnesota for the summer season.

The Present:
The pledge and the Bald Eagle and the flag still flies high, to the day. They stand for the freedom it bears, and plenty of people are still willing to defend the pledge and the flag to today. Let’s keep the Bill of Rights and the Constitution in mind every time recant the Pledge of Allegiance and every time we see the flag!

The Future:
We will NEVER, ever bend when it comes to freedom! We will not back down, we won’t bend! God Bless the U.S.A.!
