A Brief History:
Origination: Today was National Chocolate Caramel Day, a day that celebrates both chocolate and caramel, any season–but especially likely on those winter months. What a way to end to end winter! It was the Olmec, an early civilization in Latin America, that turned the cacao plant into chocolate for the first time. It’s thought the most basic form of caramel was first made by the ancient Arabs around 1,000 AD by mixing of sugar and water to form a crystallized liquid, that they used initially used in the beauty industry, and later became a confection, which was simply called a “ball of sweet.”
More Recent Evolution: National Chocolate Caramel Day celebrates the origin of chocolate and also caramel–or both. People celebrate every day with chocolate caramel, and special occasions like anniversaries, birthdays and a great day, to go alongside. The history of chocolate caramel in the United States goes to the Lancaster Caramel Company, which ran from 1886-1900 under the supervision of Milton Hershey, slinging thousands of caramel treats every single day.
The Last Few Centuries: In the last few centuries, chocolate caramel has evolved into an industry that involves employment opportunities, the building of factories, holidays based off the industry, and a lot of sweet things! Unfortunately it does keep dentists in business as well, as because on the downside, the sugar is a direct decay factor to tooth enamel and also a breeding ground for bacteria that eventually causes plaque and makes the teeth come from the whiteness that teeth need to be considered “brilliant”.
More Recently: Today, chocolate caramel still presents its taste in many forms, including hard and soft caramel (mostly soft), powders and cocoa. Chocolate caramel is is still the very delicious dessert that it has always attained from back in the old days every year. Every year, countless companies come out with a new variation, and present companies introduce different renditions and even “limited edition” variations of the recipes used to produce chocolate caramel. More and more renditions and recipes have arisen in more recent years.
Celebrated: March 19th every year!
