A Brief History:
Origination: The first sundae was produced in the year 1882 in Ithaca, New York. On a Sunday that year, Chester Platt of Platt & Colt Pharmacy served up the Reverend John M. Scott a scoop of vanilla ice cream on a champagne saucer topped with a cherry with cherry syrup on top. Although the exact origin of the strawberry sundae remains unknown, it is not difficult to envision a strawberry taking the place of a cherry. Alternatively, strawberries could be used to top chocolate sundaes. The idea of celebrating sundaes with strawberries and whipped cream certainly seems deserving of a holiday, regardless of its creator.

What a Sundae Is: The strawberry sundae has become very popular over the past century, and even more so since the COVID-19 era. Kudos to the strawberry sundae!
