STARSPANGLED BANNER

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave!

Happy National Medal of Honor Day ! !

…A lot of times we lose our disposition in regular daily matters, but this country and the flag it stands behind, is still the most free land in the world. It is a nice day to celebrate the freedom we enjoy everyday with a tributary to that served. Where else in the world do we have that freedom to express our own opinions, and get away with having those thoughts, but in the U.S.A.–and that freedom is only possible through our amazing Medaled Veterans!

March 25th was National Medal of Honor Day! Wishing a great thanks to those who have earned a medal in the armed services! The legacy lives on and on. . .

A Brief History:
Thank You: A special day to honor the American soldiers, sailors, marines, or any other department–a Medal of Honor. A Medal of Honor (MOH) is the United States Armed Forces’ highest military decoration when it is awarded . I want to take the time to thank those who have fought for the American freedom. this fine country is based on a theory and a constitution. It is with the military that makes that theory work! And those outstanding officials that earned a Medal of Honor, I am absolutely flabbergasted to say “thank you”!

Origination: The Medal of Honor was created in 1861, and is is the highest military award for valor in the United States. The Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton presented the first ever  Medals of Honor in n March 25, 1863 to 6 Army members of  the “Andrews Raiders,” for their volunteering and participation during an American Civil War raid in the month of April of the year 1862.

Traditions: Taking a hat off for the many Americans who over the years have served our Armed Forces in any way, shape or form and the displaying multiple flags.

Different Variations: There are 3 versions of the Medal of Honor:

  • Army
  • Navy (The Marine Corps & Coast Guard receive the Navy version)
  • Air Force

Observed: In 1990, U.S. Congress designated March 25th of every year as National Medal of Honor Day.

A Few Facts:
I am sharing a few facts, and more, some trivia, some not trivial. . .

  • Since the American Civil War, women have earned the Medal of Honor
  • President Theodore Roosevelt is the only president to earn the Medal of Honor
  • Since the first presentation in 1863, the MOH has been awarded 3,512 times to 3,493 recipients
  • Nineteen individuals have been double recipients of the MOH
  • More. . .

The Present:
Have you reached out to a soldier? A visit, a call, or a prayer is all that is necessary…

The Future:
We will NEVER, ever forget those who served in the name of the freedom for which the flag and the Statue of Liberty stands for!
