The History:
Origination:  The origination of California goes back to it’s roots with Cortes coming up from out of the Baja California region that is now in Mexico. It eventually was discovered in 1844 by John Charles Frémont, who  led a party of Army topographical engineers that “accidentally” crossed the Sierras into California and traveled the length of the San Joaquin Valley before making their way home. It was not even a couple of years when gold was discovered there, and communication to the eastern states, and the move westward to get in on the piece of pie called the “Gold Rush” was on. It proceeded to statehood on the fast track, and became a full state in 1850. It went on through several different phases throughout its series of decades, with 49’ers and a lot of other eras.

More Recent History:  The compact area of Broadway created the concept of having Broadway migrate out west to Hollywood, came about. Hollywood was laid out as a subdivision in 1887 by Harvey Wilcox, who was a prohibitionist from Kansas. However, real-estate magnate H.J. Whitley transformed Hollywood into a rather wealthy and popular residential area. Hollywood became a municipality in 1903 and was incorporated into Los Angeles in 1910. The Hollywood sign is not even in Hollywood–but Los Angeles– but does overlook the area completely, and has great fame. Hollywood today goes on. . .and on!

Beauty & Many Climates Throughout the Vast Area of the State: A lot of area makes the state a great area, no matter what climate you are used to, except the moist humidity of the eastern states. You have the maximum temperatures of Death Valley to the fogs of the northwestern areas of California. Also the tropical orange bushes and palm trees in the Los Angeles areas southward to the cactuses of the dessert areas in San Bernardino county (a really large county). California also presents the grape and wine vineyards and a lot of vegetation that won’t grow in the humidity of the eastern states. Climactically ranging, maybe the largest differential in types of weather–a very diverse climate!
