A Brief History:
Origination: National Cake Day celebrates the delicious treat called cake. Interestingly enough, cake attributes back to the ancient Egyptians and their culture to exhibit baking skills during Ancient Times, In those times, cakes were more bread-like in appearance and sweetened with honey. The Greeks also had an early form of cheesecake, while the Romans developed versions of fruitcakes with raisins, nuts and other fruits.

United States Evolution: Cakes were considered a symbol of well being by early American cooks on the eastern coast, with each area having their own favorite flavor and style. By the early 19^th century when the Industrial Revolution took place, baking ingredients became much more available and affordable because of mass production and being able to be transported by the railroads.

Mid to Later 20^th Century: The first boxed cake mix was marketed by O. Duff and Sons starting in the late 1920s. Betty Crocker followed up with a dry cake mix in 1947. A lot of hocolate gained popularity by its great flavor. German Chocolate Cake was an American Midwest creation with the sweet ingredients of sweet baking chocolate, coconut, and pecans.

More Recently: Today, cake is still the very delicious dessert that it has always attained from back in the old days every year. More and more renditions and recipes have arisen in more recent years. The microwave had given more opportunities and different styles, especially after inventing the cup-shaped round and square microwavable light grey surfaces that refract the microwave to ensure more even cooking.
