Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day: Doubleflower Chinese Crabapple Tree

Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let this year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Doubleflower Chinese Crabapple Tree.

The Doubleflower Chinese Crabapple Tree, or the Malus Spectabilis is a tree draped in stunning clusters of fragrant, usually light pink flowers with sometimes slightly lavender overtones along the branches in mid spring, which emerge. The Doubleflower Chinese Crabapple Tree are normally planted from potted nursery specimens in the fall. They have a slightly slower growth rate of 6 to 12 inches per year, and grow to the size of 15 to 20 feet in height, and 15 to 20 feet wide, with flowers varieties ranging in tones of white, through pink, red, and occasionally purple, with deep reddish-purple to red foliage in spring, turning green-bronze in summer, fruit late summer to fallm and then finally copper in the fall. The dense, upright branching give crabapple trees like these a symmetrical ovular form. This particular version here is the white-pink variety. The Doubleflower Chinese Crabapple Tree, like most crabapples do best planted in the full sunlight.
