This is a photographic wrap up of the partial lunar eclipse that started at 12:02 a.m. and ended at 6:01 a.m. CDT on 11/19/2021. What a long event, as the whole event spanned over a six hours and one minute time period throughout the nighttime hours on Friday morning. This happens when the moon enters Earth’s shadow and gets very close. This particular eclipse was within just 3% off totality–being at 97% totality. The eclipsed section of the moon turned very close to a blood red color nearest the point of the maximum partiality phase in the lunar eclipse. This was the second eclipse in a set of them over more than two years visible from the United States. The event was the longest partial lunar eclipse in modern history (the longest in 580 Years) and the last for a very long time. Enjoy these photos. . .

What a super astronomical event this was, and weather in my area–in Illinois, weather certainly permitted, with perfect clear skies!!
See my lead-in to the eclipse in a gallery of the phases of crescent, first quarter and gibbous stages earlier this month in my article: Nov 18, 2021: Full Beaver Moon as the Longest “Blood Moon” and Partial Lunar Eclipse in Ages – Overnight
