Hurricane Melissa was an unprecedented Category 5 hurricane that struck Jamaica on October 28, 2025, with sustained winds reaching 185 mph. The storm inflicted devastating damage, leading to reports of extensive flooding, infrastructure breakdowns, and major power outages across multiple island nations, including Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, and certain areas of the Bahamas.
