Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day:
Red Clover Plant

Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let 2025 shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day are both the  Red Clover Plant.

Red Clover Plant, or the Trifolium Pratense are a beneficial plant for several reasons. It improves soil health by converting nitrogen from the air into a form plants can use, reducing the need for artificial fertilizers. It attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies, enhancing biodiversity. Additionally, its deep taproot allows it to survive dry periods better than regular grass. For planting, northern regions like Illinois should aim to sow red clover in late winter to early spring or late summer. It grows best in well-drained loamy soils with a pH of 6.0 or higher, preferably in full sun to partial shade. It’s advisable not to add extra nitrogen fertilizer, but a soil test for potassium and phosphorus can be helpful. You can find red clover seeds from online retailers like Survival Garden Seeds and True Leaf Market or at local nurseries. Red clover is identifiable by its three leaflets, pink flowers in round clusters, and hairy stems.
