Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day: Pink Spires Crabapple Tree
Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let this year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Pink Spires Crabapple.
The Pink Spires Crabapple Tree, or malus ‘Pink Spires’ is a tree draped in stunning clusters of fragrant pink flowers with lavender overtones along the branches in mid spring, which emerge. The Pink Spires Crabapple Tree are normally planted from potted nursery specimens in the fall. They have a moderate growth rate of 12 to 24 inches per year, and a 5-gallon potted tree may take three to five years, or even longer before it flowers heavily. They grow to the size of 15 to 20 feet in height, and 15 to 20 feet wide, with flowers varieties come in white, pink, red, and occasionally purple, with deep reddish-purple to red foliage in spring, turning green-bronze in summer and copper in the fall. They develop 1/2″ to no larger than 2 inch purplish-red fruit in the fall season with proper tree vigor. Dense, upright branching give crabapple trees like these a symmetrical oval form. This particular version here is the pink variety. The Pink Spires Crabapple Tree, like most crabapples do best planted in the full sunlight.
