President James Earl Carter Jr.: October 1, 1924 – December 29, 2024
On Sunday, December 29, 2024, former President Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, and a Nobel Peace Prize winner, passed away peacefully, at the age of 100 in his home in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by family. He is survived by his four children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. His son, Chip Carter, called him a hero to those who believe in peace and human rights.
Public observances will take place in Atlanta and Washington, D. C. , with a private burial afterward. Details about the state funeral will be shared by the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region. The public is invited to visit the tribute website: https://www.jimmycartertribute.org/
