Begonia hybrida Big Green Leaf Red & New Guinea Impatiens
Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let 2024 shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is two main varieties: Begonia hybrida Big Green Leaf Red & New Guinea Impatiens.
The Begonia hybrida Big Green Leaf Red, or the Begonia x Benariensis of the Begoniaceae family & the New Guinea Impatiens, or the Impatiens Hawkeri of the Balsaminaceae family are both great summer sights to make it right. This display features a local assortment at the entrance to Scarborough Fare in Oak Forest, Illinois:
Begonia hybrida Big Green Leaf Red:
Flowers are medium: Large 2 inch to 3 inch blooms held above glossy leaves, and attract bees and butterflies:
- Spacing : 16 inches (40cm – 41cm)
- Height : 12 to 24 inches (30cm – 61cm)
- Width : 12 to 20 inches (30cm – 51cm)
- Exposure : Can tolerate a range of light conditions, from full sun to shade, but it does best when given some shade
New Guinea Impatiens:
Flowers are medium: 2 to 5 inches, bloom in the middle summer, and attract bees:
- Spacing : 12 to 24 inches (30cm – 61cm)
- Height : 12 to 24 inches (30cm – 61cm)
- Width : 12 to 36 inches (76cm – 122cm)
- Exposure : Can grow in a variety of light conditions, but they do best in part shade
