August Full Moon & More. . .

Tomorrow at 1:26 p.m. CST is August’s only Full Moon: the Sturgeon & Blue Moon, because there are 4 Moons so there are two Full Moons between on this cycle for the month with 4 this season so the determination is that this one is an extra Blue Moon! This classification of a Blue Moon is because there is four Full Moons in one season–meaning there is one of the extra Full Moons in another year, hence only having 12 Full Moons total in the year 2024. This year, there will be a sequence of four supermoons occurring consecutively on August 19^th, September 17^th, October 17^th  (closest), and November 15^th. The next Blue Moon is a monthly Blue Moon, and happens on May 31, 2026.  There were 3 Super New Moons earlier in 2024: on February 9^th, on March 10^th and the last one was the “Great American Eclipse,” that occurred on April 8^th. Super New Moons are not visible from Earth unless in conjunction with an eclipse.
