Dogs:
Origination: Dogs have their origins traced back to an extinct gray wolf population, with genetic research pointing towards the start of domestication in Europe, the high Arctic, or eastern Asia more than 25,000 years ago. Studies show that the domestic dog likely evolved in southern East Asia around 33,000 years ago, spreading to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe approximately 15,000 years ago. One of these lineages eventually made its way back to northern China, mixing with local East Asian lineages, before eventually journeying to the Americas.

Cats:
Origination: Cats have evolved from the African Wildcat, a species that has existed for more than 12 million years. The African Wildcat can still be found in the Savannah regions of the Middle East and Africa. The domestic cat can be traced back to populations of the African wildcat in the Near-East and Egypt, known as Felis sylvestris lybica. The Felidae family, which includes all modern feline species, emerged around ten to eleven million years ago and is classified into eight main phylogenetic lineages.
