Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day:
Tampa Verbena

Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let the is year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Tampa Verbena.

The Tampa Verbena, or the Glandularia Tampensis is a plant with a flower that is purple and showy, very attractive to butterflies, and is on a list of endangered species. Once established, it is almost drought tolerant, although the Tampa Verbena doesn’t seem to grow more than two years, so it is recommended to start a new growing plant from cuttings before the old bush dies. They grow to about 1 to 1-1/2 feet in height, and 1 to 2 feet wide. The Tampa Verbena isn’t fussy about the pH levels–although a mildly acidic property is better, and it does better in partial sun/shade with extra moisture like it is grown in the wild. The Tampa Verbena looks lovely in a wildflower garden.
