Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day:
Sarah Bernhardt Peony
Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let the is year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Sarah Bernhardt Peony.
The Sarah Bernhardt Peony, or the Paeonia lactiflora is a eloved Peony with large double flowers in fresh, pastel pink that was introduced in 1906. It is a longtime favorite blooms dependably year after year mid-early spring to early summer. The Sarah Bernhardt Peony presents a healthy amount of emerald green foliage, adding interest to any garden throughout the growing season. Named after legendary stage actress, ‘Sarah Bernhardt,’ this Peony is steeped in poise and elegance, presenting luxurious layers of ruffled petals, and making for for dramatic blossoms. The Sarah Bernhardt Peony grows to the size of 34 to 36 inches tall and 24 to 36 inches wide, with a flower size of about 7 to 9 inches in diameter. Like all peonies, the Sarah Bernhardt Peony grows best in the full sun, benefiting best from the shielding shade of the hotter afternoon sun. The best time to plant them is in early winter or late fall. Enriching the soil prior to planting with ample organic matter makes a beneficial difference in blossoming.
