Today is National French Fries Day! Or is it tomorrow? Any day, they are so delicious! Fries, with and without salt! Flip on a movie or television! Driving through the drive-thru! Just about everything is better with French fries. . .

A Brief History:
Origination: French fries are maybe not French at all. Belgian food historian Pierre Leclercq has traced the history of the French fry and asserts that “it is clear that fries are of French origin”. They are likely invented in the country’s northeast neighbor, Belgium, first crispy spuds, refined to much thinner versions as time migrated.

The French Fry: French fries are a crisp that is made from either a fresh or frozen spud (potato) that is either dropped into cooking oil, or it can be baked under a browning light or oven roasted. Any way it stack them, the French fry is an American and worldwide staple. Known as fries in the United States, they are called different names in different lands, such as being known as “chips” in the United Kingdom.

French fries Go Well With : Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken wings, chicken nuggets, a blooming onion, cheese dip, tater tots, fried shrimp, crab cakes, mozzarella sticks, a grilled cheese sandwich, fish and chips, BBQ ribs, fried chicken, pizza, a club sandwich, and the limits are endless. . .

A celebration: Recognized each year across the country, a whole day that encourages French fry lovers to indulge and enjoy.

Celebrated: National French Fry Day used to be celebrated annually on July 13^th. But in 2022, some fast food restaurants like the Checkers franchise and Rally’s franchise petitioned to have the National Day change over the date to the second Friday in July. So see you both today and tomorrow. Two Fries Days are better than one, just like eating fries–you cannot just settle for one!
