Happy Juneteenth!
It is Juneteenth, the 19th day of June–which is a holiday that celebrates the emancipation of the enslaved people in the United States. Slavery is a terrible blood-stained part of this country’s history. President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared as of the date January 1, 1863, all enslaved people in the United States, and without exception, “shall be thenceforward, and forever free.” Remember, we are all children of God!
