There were many a new rendition invented in between, like Jiffy-Pop popcorn–that made it very convenient to make. However, when the microwave was invented in the 1970’s, popcorn was introduced to the U.S. almost a decade later, and in 1981 at-home popcorn consumption once again spiked upwards.
