Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day: Peony
Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let this year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Peony.
The Peony (Tree Peony), or the Paeonia Suffruticosa, a member of the Vaginatae species, is a truee/bush that has been cultivated for millennia in China, initially only as a source of traditional Chinese medicine particularly the skin of its roots. It is now also cultivated for its ornamental value, is a deciduous, woody shrub that typically grows 3 to 5 feet tall with a 4 foot spread, and features large 6 to 6 inch across flowers, with pink to white petals, each petal having a purple basal patch. The Tree peony flowers fade away quickly in bright sunlight. Growing them in dappled shade, where they receive morning light; or protect the blossoms with an umbrella for extended bloom.

Peonies are some of my favorite flowers.
Such beautiful flowers. I wish peonies lasted longer, though.
These are pretty. Wished they kept blooming.
