Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day: Magenta Lilac & White Lilac
Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let this year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Magenta Lilac & White Lilac.
The Magenta Lilac & White Lilac (common), or the Syringa vulgaris is a is an later spring flowering hybrid that produces trusses of fragrant, in this case magenta and white single flowers. The common lilacs can come in the colors of purple, blue-purple, lavender, magenta, reddish purple, pink, and white, and blooms in abundance in late mid to late May with 6″ stems ending cones of small, pure white, single flowers. It is an excellent shrub to use in the background due to its large size, growing to the size of 8 to 12 feet tall and 6 feet high by 10 feet wide. The common Lilac doubles up to exhibit excellent autumn coloring as well. The common Lilac tree grows in reasonably fertile, well-drained soil and requires full sun; prefers neutral to slightly alkaline soil. Promptly deadhead spent blossoms lead to the reproduction of more robust blooms for the following year. The lilac always prefers the full sun exposure for best and healthiest growth.

Lilacs are my favorite. Too bad they only bloom once a year.
