A Brief History:
Pecan Pie Origination:  Pecan pie became a symbol of Southern United States culture during the 1940s and 1950s. Pecans are indigenous to the southern United States, and archaeological findings in Texas suggest that Native Americans were utilizing pecans in ancient times over 4,000 years ago.

Chocolate Origination:  The history of chocolate and its creation from the cocoa bean can be traced from the Xocolatl-loving Olmec, Maya and Aztecs of Mexico dating back to the era of between 1900 BC to 1500 BC. The Maya considered chocolate to be food of the gods, with the cacao tree being held to be sacred. They also buried dignitaries with bowls of chocolate.
