The History:
Croutons: Numerous terms associated with bread products are derived from the French language, reflecting the French’s deep appreciation for bread. Croutons exemplify this connection; the French term ‘croûte’ translates to ‘crust.’ Typically, croutons are prepared using stale bread that is diced into cubes and flavored with herbs, oil, or butter. Subsequently, the bread is either baked in the oven or sautéed in a hot pan until it achieves a crunchy texture.
