A Brief History:
Origination: May Day marks the beginning of a customary festivity honoring flowers and the arrival of spring. In various historical calendars, May 1st signified the commencement of summer, a momentous occasion worth commemorating. It goes back to biblical times, and more recently had a lot to do with wartime vibes.

More About May Day: May Day has been a customary day of festivities for many years, dating back to pre-Christian eras. Among the well-known rituals was the practice of gathering flowers and presenting them to acquaintances and unfamiliar individuals in cone-shaped baskets. These baskets, known as May Day Baskets, have become a widespread tradition. Nowadays, the custom involves hanging a cone-shaped basket filled with flowers or presents on the exterior doorknob, followed by a quick knock or ring of the doorbell before swiftly departing.

Some Examples of May Day Celebrations From Various Other Parts of the World: Different countries celebrate May Day in unique ways:

  • In the United Kingdom, people dance around a maypole and crown a May Queen.
