Which State is ND:

The Beginning Years: It is believed that the initial settlement in North Dakota’s history dates back thousands of years, starting with big-game hunters after the glaciers melted. By 2000 BC, both hunter-gatherer and farming societies were established. At the time of European contact, various Native American tribes, including the Dakota (Lakota), Assiniboine, Cheyenne, Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara, inhabited the area, each adapting differently to the plains. Early inhabitants included Paleo-Indians, known for tools like Clovis and Folsom points, and Plains Archaic people, who developed new tools like the atlatl. By around 1200 AD, early agricultural societies formed, cultivating crops like corn. Key tribes included the Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara, Dakota, Assiniboine, and Cheyenne, each with distinct lifestyles focused on agriculture or bison hunting.
