Which Colony State is VT:
The Beginning Years: It is believed that the initial settlement of Vermont includes the presence of Paleoindians, who arrived over 5,000 years ago and hunted large animals as glaciers receded. During the Archaic Period, Native Americans migrated seasonally, while the Woodland Period (1000 BC-1600 AD) saw the establishment of villages, trade networks, and agriculture. European exploration began in 1609 when Samuel de Champlain led the first expedition to Lake Champlain. Despite efforts by the French and English to colonize the region, they were not successful.

More History: The state of Vermont proclaimed it’s United States history being part by being granted to New York in 1664 and 1674. After the British defeated the French in the French and Indian War, they gained control of the land. In 1777, representatives from 51 towns declared independence from British colonies, establishing the Vermont Republic. Vermont Republic abolished slavery before any other U. S. state. Vermont became the 14th state to join the Union on March 4, 1791, with its constitution and laws from the independent period remaining in effect.
