Now that the Atlantic Category 3 strike of Hurricane Milton (category 5 at strongest point) in Florida is over, the cleanup has began. The wrath of the path started at the coast of Siesta Key, Florida, , which is a barrier island adjacent to Sarasota. on the Wednesday, October 10th evening around 8:30 p.m. as a Category 3 hurricane. At least 18 individuals lost their lives due to the hurricane, as confirmed by authorities, with at least five of these deaths attributed to tornadoes in St. Lucie County. The storm released an excessive amount of rainfall across certain regions of the Tampa Bay area, marking it as a 1-in-1,000-year rainfall event. More than 2 million residents in Florida experienced power outages on Friday, as reported by Find Energy, a utility tracker.

Milton brought intense rainfall and strong winds to Florida following its landfall on the evening of October 9, near Siesta Key, located south of Sarasota. This formidable storm, which initially struck the state as a Category 3 hurricane and diminished to a Category 1 by Thursday morning, generated tornadoes and resulted in significant flooding. Although the Tampa region avoided a direct impact from the storm’s eyewall, it still experienced 9 inches of rain within a three-hour timeframe on Wednesday. Millions of residents are currently without electricity, and St. Lucie County has reported damage attributed to tornado activity.
