Shrubby Cinquefoil
Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let 2024 shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Shrubby Cinquefoil.
The Shrubby Cinquefoil, or the Potentilla Fruticosa is from the Rosaceae family. The Shrubby Cinquefoil are a moderately growing deciduous tree (seasonally loses leaves), shrubby, compact and leafy shrub with slender and erect branches. The Shrubby Cinquefoil is a low-growing shrub with a mounded, multi-stemmed and rounded form, and hosts low fragrance flowers (great bee attraction) with flowers that are orange, pink, white, and yellow. Throughout the majority of the growing season, this species showcases vibrant yellow blossoms. Cultivars offer a diverse selection of flower colors. It is a highly recommended option for arid and sun-drenched locations. According to the book Plants of the Chicago Region (Indiana Natural Science) by Floyd Swink & Gerould Wilhelm, this species is indigenous to the Chicago area of Illinois. The Shrubby Cinquefoil loves dry soil, moist is tolerable with well-drained circumstances, and tolerate alkaline soil or clay soil, and can withstand dry sites, occasional drought, and road salt. The Shrubby Cinquefoil grow throughout the early summer, mid-summer, late summer, and early fall.…
