Today’s Featured Flower Photo of the Day:
Sunflower

Today was National Sunflower Day! Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let the is year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. To celebrate National Sunflower Day, today’s Flower of the day is the Sunflower.

The Sunflower, or the Helianthus is a plant is a sight for the eyes and greatly improves the days! Sunflowers are relatively easy to plant, grow Sunflowers in pots, grow sunflowers in pots, and grow Sunflowers at home. Unlike other flowers and plants, which flower in the spring and are sown in the fall, Sunflower seeds need to be sown in the spring, near the end of March and the whole month of April. However, make sure that the outside temperature is at least 65°F, it is very important for plant growth, and sunflower seeds will not be able to germinate with inadequate temperatures. In very cold regions it may even be necessary to wait until May to be able to plant our sunflower seeds. In any case, if the temperature drops sharply (which often happens in spring), don’t worry, the sunflower plants are able to tolerate lower temperatures. Now that you have a lot of information about growing Sunflower you can move on to Sunflower seeds for planting. Using planting soil for sunflower growing, you should drill holes in the growing medium about 2 to 3 inches deep at a distance of 13 to 26 inches apart. Insert about 3 units of Sunflower seeds in each hole, AND cover and water continuously, but avoid accumulation of water, and apply nutrients to always ensure nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and other elements. One week after sowing, the first Sunflower seeds will be visible. Sunflower seeds can be planted directly into the ground and some may not germinate, but it will be a pleasant surprise to see the first seedlings emerge from the ground after 11 days depending on the germination time and conditions. The Sunflower seeds should be planted in direct sunlight for most of the day, away from the shade of trees, walls and other objects, as sunflowers need 6-8 hours of sunlight a day to grow healthy. The soil where Sunflower cultivation takes place must be well drained since Sunflowers are characterized by long roots, therefore they can rot if the soil is too watery. The Sunflower plant turns out to be undemanding, therefore even the average type of soil does not require particular treatments, but if the soil is too poor, clayey soil can be used to promote its growth. When the shoots are still small and fragile, water them from a distance of 3 top 4 inches to allow the roots to grow without uprooting the sunflower plant. It is recommended, both for sunflower plants grown in pots and in open ground, to protect the sunflower plant from parasites and to prevent predators from attacking the sunflower seed and uprooting the seedlings even before new shoots appear. Covering the ground with a net is a great assistance to aiding and ensuring that they are not attacked. As the seedlings reach the mature stage, water less frequently and only water once a week when the stems are established and the roots are established. Use plenty of water at this time and when the dry season approaches. Compared to many other annual flowers, Sunflowers need a lot of water. It is possible to grow Sunflowers in pots, on a sunny balcony or other smaller spot. Since the root system of the plant is directly proportional to the height of the stem, an ordinary sunflower needs a huge container, so it is advisable to choose a dwarf sunflower variety with a height of near 12 inches. First, you need to choose a sunny place to place the pot. Sunflowers are flowers that love direct sun, with a minimum of 4 to 5 hours of sun exposure a day being recommended. The recommended sowing period for Sunflower seeds is from March to May, but if you already have plants available, you can also do so during the flowering period, from July to October. Recommendation of using a pot with a diameter of 20 inches and a depth of 12 inches, all of which will greatly help the Sunflower plant to occupy all the space it wants in order to develop as much as possible. Growing in too small of a pot just invokes a transplant, the Sunflower plant will have to be transplanted into a much larger pot. Enjoy your Sunflowers. . .right now, they should just about be in full bloom, to make your summer day a bright and shiny pleasant day! Enjoy your National Sunflower Day!
