Happy Pride Month ! !

🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈

Facts:
Pride Day: Traditionally the last Sunday in the month of June every year is considered Pride Day abroad, but with variations. Now a floating holiday throughout Pride Month.
Pride Month: Whole month of June.
First Parade: November 2, 1969.
Founded By: Craig Rodwell, his partner Fred Sargeant, Ellen Broidy, and Linda Rhodes.
Premise/Location: The four individuals proposed the first gay pride parade to be held in New York City by way of a resolution at the Eastern Regional Conference of Homophile Organizations (ERCHO) meeting in Philadelphia..
Purpose: Pride parades, also known as pride marches, festivals and events, are outdoor events held for the purpose of celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary and queer (LGBTQ) social and achievements through pride.
Move to June: The move to the month of June happened in order to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City.
Some Other History: In 1970, there were pride marches and protests held in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco around the first anniversary of the Stonewall horror.
Over Time to a Couple Years Ago: The Pride Events became annual and grew nationally and internationally.
2019: In order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, New York and the whole world celebrated the largest international Pride celebration in history. The Stonewall 50 & WorldPride NYC 2019, produced by the Heritage of Pride had a 5 million person attendance in Manhattan alone.
End of the COVID-19 Era: Great news! The ending of this era completely and will no longer be covered unless relevant.
This Year: Trending is for the Pride Day to rotate throughout the month. New York and Chicago continues the traditional day, which is the last week Sunday. It varies by city.

The Future: Hopefully by next year, we can continue moving forward abroad, and have the Pride Parades continue normal activity.

On 6/25/02, I was a lot younger–went with my best friend, and she and I had a very nice time seeing float by float go by on a nice hot, summer day. It was a lot of culture in one whole day. Being before I became clean, I did have a drink in the streets–what a gas at the time.
