A Brief History:
Origination: National Caramel Day is a day that celebrates caramel, and the great invention of its most basic form of caramel, that was first made by the ancient Arabs around 1,000 AD. Caramel was formed by mixing of sugar and water to form a crystallized liquid, that they used initially used in the beauty industry, and later became a confection, which was simply called a “ball of sweet.”

More Recent Evolution: National Caramel Day celebrates the origin of caramel. People celebrate every day with caramel, and special occasions like anniversaries, birthdays and a great day, to go alongside. The history of caramel in the United States goes to the Lancaster Caramel Company, which ran from 1886-1900 under the supervision of Milton Hershey, slinging thousands of caramel treats every single day.

The Last Few Centuries: In the last few centuries, caramel has evolved into an industry that involves employment opportunities, the building of factories, holidays based off the industry, and a lot of sweet things! Unfortunately it does keep dentists in business as well, as because on the downside, the sugar is a direct decay factor to tooth enamel and also a breeding ground for bacteria that eventually causes plaque and makes the teeth come from the whiteness that teeth need to be considered “brilliant”.

More Recently: Today, caramel still presents its taste in it’s great, soft, smooth delicacy. Caramel is is still the very delicious dessert that it has always attained from back in the old days every year. Caramel is added to other desserts, including cheesecake–in order to bring out full flavor and added enjoyment! Every year, countless companies come out with a new variation, and present companies introduce different renditions and even “limited edition” variations of the recipes used to produce caramel. More and more renditions and recipes have arisen in more recent years.

Celebrated: April 5th every year!
