Today is National Cherry Pie Day! These are so delicious! Cherry Pie–so sweet! Served up with or without whipped cream! Enjoy it with ice cream–vanilla, cherry or your favorite flavor! Try it with cherries on top for a staple favorite. . .Just the perfect midnight snack–some nice cherry pie. . .

A Brief History:
Origination:   the 1500’s, fruit pies were introduced and became the popular treat. The cherry pie is believed to have made its appearance during these days, and presented originally to Queen Elizabeth I. Pies first came to America with the earlier English settlers, along with the introduction of cherry trees. President Washington loved his cherry pie, stating the famous quote quote “I cannot tell a lie, I chopped down the Cherry tree”.

More Recent Origin:  Not much more recent events. . .except pure continual enjoyment of those pies!

Cherry Pie Go Well With : Whether sweet with whipped cream, ice cream, both or topped with cherries. . .cherry pie hits the spot!.

A celebration: Recognized each year across the country, a whole day that encourages cherry pie lovers to that special dessert, snack, or even a very special midnight snack.

Celebrated: Celebrated on February 20^th every year, to coincide with President Washington’s favorite snack!
