A Brief History:
Origination: Today is National Dark Chocolate Day, a day that celebrates the beginning of all candy–dark chocolate. The history of dark chocolate is the oldest of all types of candy, dating back to the 1900 B.C. ancient days of the South American, Central America and now Mexican areas of the then Mayan and Aztecan tribal areas, where the first connoisseurs of chocolate, drank cacao drinks as a bitter fermented beverage mixed with spices or wine for ceremonial and medicinal purposes, and also as a luxury for the elite. Obviously, for centuries, chocolate was always a liquid, unlike out nowadays versions of any type of chocolate.

More Recent Evolution: National Dark Chocolate Day celebrates the origin of chocolate and also candy–or both. People celebrate every day with dark chocolate as a great counter-part to any type of candy, including regular chocolate, and also celebrates special occasions like anniversaries, birthdays and a great day, to go alongside.

The Last Few Centuries: In the last few centuries, dark chocolate has been found to be the truly nutritious candy it is. Dark chocolate is also recommended by many doctors for health related conditions. It is high in antitoxins and has a herbal value. It has also evolved into an industry like all candy, whereby it has evolved with employment opportunities, the building of factories, and a lot of sweet things! Unfortunately, it has sugar in it, so it does keep dentists in business as well, as because on the downside, the sugar is a direct decay factor to tooth enamel and also a breeding ground for bacteria that eventually causes plaque and makes the teeth come from the whiteness that teeth need to be considered “brilliant”.

More Recently: Today, dark chocolate still presents its taste in many forms, mostly candy bars–but other types. Dark chocolate is is still the very delicious dessert that it has always attained from back in the old days every year. Every year, countless companies come out with a new variation, and present companies introduce different renditions and even “limited edition” variations of the recipes used to produce dark chocolate. More and more renditions and recipes have arisen in more recent years.

Celebrated: February 1st every year!
