In order to honor those that keep our flag flying high, there is a lot of responsibility that goes along with keeping freedom ringing in each and every American’s life! It does not come on a platter. You cannot run from those who wish to despise those who kept it flying so many years–our forefathers, our veterans, those who believe in the privilege of the right to freedom. Every American is so special–every second, minute and hour. Keep the flag for what it stands for. . .Be proud to be an American! The legacy lives on and on. . .

A Brief History:
Origination: Independence Day is a day dedicated to celebrate the beginning of the United States of America. The holiday marks the day that in 1776, the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the document of the Declaration of Independence, which signaled the official separation of Colonial America from Great Britain amid the onset of the Revolutionary War.

Evolution:  On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence, announcing the colonies’ separation from Great Britain.

Traditions: The number one tradition of the 4^th is fireworks and going to a display. Also flag worship, family reunions, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, hot dogs, apple pie, political speeches & ceremonies, celebration of the history, government, and original traditions of the United States.

Importance: Our forefathers were the ones who struggled for our country and sacrificed their lives, in order to establish a country so free as the United States of America. The flag was designed to represent that freedom, and later the Statue of Liberty also was delivered by France to represent this free land we live in. Our Independence day is of great importance to us all. As it is also a day when we can remember those who died for the country.

Contract with the Fellow American: The Declaration of Independence was a simple version of a contract with the fellow American, creating the clause in writing that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” The contract was not replaced with, but endowed with the later creation of the United States Constitution. These elements, along with all fifty states’ constitutions are exactly what makes this country the free country it is.

A Few Facts:
I am sharing a few facts, and more, some trivia, some not trivial. . .

• The Declaration of Independence was the first formal document that was ever adopted by a nation’s people asserting the right to choose their own government.
  
• The Congress formally adopted the document known as the Declaration of Independence that was largely written by Thomas Jefferson, who eventually became our second President.
  
• The Declaration of Independence that was adopted in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, a date known as Independence Day” or for short “The 4^th of July”. It is celebrated in honor of the birth of American independence.
• Independence Day is a federal holiday. It became a holiday when Congress passed the law making it a federal holiday on June 28, 1870. when the day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, It is celebrated the  weekday closest to the proximity. This year, being on a Sunday, it is celebrated tomorrow on Monday, July 5, meaning federal offices will also be closed that day as well. When it is any federal holiday, states are urged to follow federal law.

The Present:
We have made it through some tough times dealing inflation, issues affecting personal everyday living, COVID-19. Our present leadership and the media has really failed us dramatically hurt and even killed a lot of people, families and trust. The time has come for an awakening and unification. The good news is, a Higher Power will get us through all that happens. With unity and a Higher Power, there is hope. . .

The Future:
We need  to preserve the foundation of the United States. Without a solid foundation, our country is doomed to exist with the freedoms we enjoy. Don’t take anything for granted. Love our children! I challenge each and every parent to suggest that their children get an A+ grade on the high school social studies course known as “The Constitution”. If I can do it, anyone can! Make sure that the course remains in the curriculum of all high school in order to graduate, and that the course is never replaced with any other course. Be active in your children’s curriculum and pay good attention to their studies. Don’t be intimidated. Attend school meetings, formerly known as parent teacher conference meetings. Our children are our future! Be there to assist your child through and help them get a good grade in this really important course. We will NEVER, ever forget the freedom for which the flag and the Statue of Liberty stands for!
