Here is today’s featured photo flower presentation. To let this year shine bright, I am featuring fine photos of flowers, continuing to honor the brighter side of life again this year. Today’s Flower of the day is the Pear Blossom (Tree).

The Pear Blossom Tree, or the Pyrus is from the Rosaceae family. and the Amygdaloideae subfamily, and the Malinae higher classification. It grows to the size of 18 to 20 feet tall and 12 or more feet wide. Standard Pear Blossom Tree need top be planted 25 to 35 feet apart, and Dwarf Pear Trees need to be planted 18 to 20 feet apart. All varieties of ornamental pears thrive in full sun in an array of soil types and pH levels. Different ornamental flowering female pear trees don’t always bear fruit. There are many types of non-fruit bearing pear trees. The trees always have an awesome array of great looking flowers. The pear blossom spoke to lasting friendship when sent in the Victorian era, and has significant symbolism from history to modern days in weddings, poetry, and military use.

  1. Very pretty flowers on this tree. And pictures too. I’ve probably seen them before but had no idea what kind of tree it was.

  2. What a beautiful tree! The blossoms are lovely! I just got done reading a scary book by actor turned novelist Tom Tryon called “Harvest Home”. The main character at one point is painting of portrait of someone standing by a pear tree, and is told that the tree never bears fruit. He’s told to paint the tree in full bloom as it’s so pretty. Thanks for showing me it is!
