A Brief History:
Origination: It is essential to pay tribute to those who have served and to educate the upcoming generation about the significance of freedom. This objective is partially achieved each December through the laying of sponsored veterans’ wreaths on the graves of individuals who have dedicated their lives to our nation. United States Evolution: Wreaths Across America endeavors to commemorate our fallen heroes by organizing wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and over 3,100 additional participating sites nationwide. This day serves to honor those who have served and educates our youth about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families in the defense of our freedoms. Remember. Honor. Teach.

How to Become Involved: Throughout the nation, individuals generously unite to place wreaths on the graves of military personnel. You are encouraged to join this noble effort as a volunteer. Involve your children, regardless of their age, as it serves as a valuable opportunity to educate them about the sacrifices made by our military and their families, while also demonstrating respect for their service. Additionally, contributions are welcomed to ensure that every fallen hero receives the honor they deserve. Many volunteers begin this tradition by honoring their own family members but often find themselves returning to participate each year. The significance of this solemn commitment to honoring service members with wreaths deepens with each passing year.

More Than Celebration: In 1992, Morrill Worcester and his company had extra wreaths after the holiday season. Remembering a visit to Arlington National Cemetery from his childhood, he decided to honor veterans by laying wreaths there. Volunteers helped place them. In 2007, Wreaths Across America was formed, now covering all 50 states to remember and honor fallen heroes and their sacrifices.

Celebrated: The holiday is celebrated yearly on a Saturday in December Congress designates this observance to take place annually on the second Saturday in December.
