Which State is HI:

The Beginning Years: It is believed that the Ancient Hawaiian history starts with the Polynesian settlers arriving from the Marquesas and Tahiti around 300 to 900 AD. These skilled navigators and farmers formed a unique culture that valued chiefs, religious beliefs, and a strong bond with the land and sea. Their society was hierarchical, with a kapu system enforcing social order. Captain James Cook arrived in 1778, leading to European influence, while King Kamehameha I unified the islands by 1810. King Kamehameha is an important figure in Hawaiian history, known for unifying the Hawaiian Islands. King Kamehameha Day is celebrated on June 11th, starting in 1872. Born around 1758, his birth was linked to Halley’s Comet. He unified the islands by forming alliances and building a war fleet by 1810. His statue, unveiled in 1883, symbolizes his legacy. The kapu system was abolished in 1819, shaping modern Hawaiian identity and culture.
