Founded By: George Washington Carver, an agricultural extension educator from Alabama, was a strong advocate for promoting the peanut. Renowned for his efforts, Carver gathered 105 peanut recipes from a variety of sources such as cookbooks and agricultural bulletins. In 1916, he published a Research Bulletin titled How to Grow the Peanut and 105 Ways of Preparing it for Human Consumption. Within the bulletin, there were three recipes that utilized crushed or chopped peanuts as ingredients. Surprisingly, peanut butter cookies were not among them.
