A Brief History on Ice Tea:
Founded By: Tea has a rich history dating back to approximately 453 B.C. (According to Shandong University/University of Science and Technology). At the World’s Fair in St. Louis in 1904, a tea merchant had intended to serve hot tea but was faced with a change of plans due to a sudden heat wave. To salvage the situation, the merchant ingeniously added ice to the already brewed tea. This unexpected twist resulted in a surge of people eagerly queuing up to savor this delightful new beverage. Recipes for iced tea can be traced back to the 1870s, as evidenced by the presence of such recipes in The Buckeye Cookbook (1876) and Housekeeping in Old Virginia (1877). Although it is thought that iced tea began to gain popularity in the United States in the 1860s, it became widely consumed in the 1870s. At this time, hotels and railroads started including iced tea in their beverage offerings.

Why: Nowadays, we celebrate a cup of ice tea in order to enjoy the day with a refreshing, superlative cup of ice tea–the BEST way to refresh with a mild caffeine jolt without the problems that an energy drink can pose. Also the herbal essence is body friendly. Presently, the United States consumes approximately 50 billion glasses of tea annually!

Where: Any and every day that a drink is necessary. What a great alternative to the hot tea enjoyed all other seasons–or an ice tea can refresh year round–it is all up to you!

When: Morning, noon and night, an ice tea can refresh!
