A Brief History:
Origination:The honesty begins in the Garden of Eden. Why it is so important to be honest. Jesus was sent to earth to take care of the sin of the world. It is not, however, ever an excuse to intentionally lie. Sometimes even lying to yourself can give perilous consequences. Lying makes it hard to tell which lie to tell–or if you told that lie, etc, etc… As far as the day, M. Hirsh Goldberg, the author of The Book of Lies, established National Honesty Day in the early 1990s. As a former press secretary to a Maryland governor, he chose the final day of April to counteract the frivolity associated with the first day of the month.

The Truth, and Only the Truth: We are aware of the various types of falsehoods. At times, we may have softened the truth to protect someone’s feelings, exaggerated a fact, or even told a blatant lie. Unless we are perfect, it is likely that we have all been guilty of dishonesty on occasion. This reflection promotes the value of honesty. In both professional settings and personal interactions with our children, being truthful fosters trust. Everyone makes errors; there are moments when we lack the answers or cannot influence the results of certain situations. Nevertheless, we have the ability to govern our own words and actions, and we can commit to being truthful in all our endeavors.

Reasons Not to Lie: Do you like catching someone lying to you? “The Golden Rule” says: “Do not do to others what you would not want done to you.”
