A prayer and a moment of silence for the peace of the world…

A prayer:
Dear God,
O Lord, we beseech You to assist us! Bestow upon us tranquility, instruct us in the ways of peace; direct our paths towards harmony. Enlighten our eyes and hearts, and grant us the bravery to declare: ‘War must never occur again!’; ‘In war, all is lost.’ Inspire our governments and also us with the dignity to resolve to take tangible actions towards the attainment of peace.
Amen

A Brief History:
Origination: Each nation that received a cutting designated the rose with a unique name. In France, it was referred to as ‘Madame A. Meilland’ in tribute to the breeder’s mother. Italy chose the name Gioia, which translates to Joy. In Germany, the rose was named Gloria Dei, signifying glory to God. The United States designated it as ‘Peace,’ and notably, the rose is the national flower of the United States. As World War II concluded in Europe, the trade name ‘Peace’ was officially revealed on April 29, 1945, by the Conrad Pyle Co. in the United States. Subsequently, in 1945, Peace roses were presented to each delegate at the inaugural United Nations meeting in San Francisco, accompanied by a note stating: ‘We hope the Peace rose will influence men’s thoughts for everlasting world peace.’

A Little History of the Peace Rose: The Peace rose features light yellow to large cream-colored flowers with subtly flushed crimson pink edges on its petals. This hybrid tea rose is known for its hardiness, vigor, and exceptional disease resistance. Developed by French horticulturist Francis Meilland between 1935 and 1939, he anticipated the German invasion of France and took measures to safeguard the new rose by sending cuttings to friends in Italy, Turkey, Germany, and the United States. It is thought that these cuttings reached the United States on the final flight available prior to the German invasion
Even More History of the Peace Rose: The Peace rose, created to honor the conclusion of World War II, symbolizes hope, tranquility, and affection. Its bright yellow petals edged in pink, combined with a delightful scent and sturdy stems, evoke a sense of serenity and positivity. The rose’s arrival in the United States during the war, along with its debut on the day Berlin was liberated, adds to its narrative of strength and victory over challenges.
Celebrated: The day is celebrated on April 29th each year.
