A Brief History on Cheesesteak:
Origins: Credit for the invention is attributed to Pat Olivieri, a hot dog vendor from the 1930s. As noted on Philadelphia’s tourism website, Pat’s King of Steaks remains at its original site and continues to thrive. The author has enjoyed a cheesesteak from this establishment and would eagerly return.

A Cheesesteak, a Cheesesteak! During the meal, what truly matters is this amazing, succulent sandwich served on a hoagie roll. It’s packed with sliced steak, and you have the option to add cheese and onions or enjoy it plain. If you haven’t tried one yet, the genuine experience can only be found in Philadelphia. While other places may attempt to replicate it, make sure to visit Philly someday. It’s the real thing!

Cheese Facts: Cheez Whiz is a popular cheese choice for a Philly cheesesteak, but provolone and American cheese are also common. Cheez Whiz is a classic processed cheese spread loved by many. Provolone, said to be the original cheese used, is another favored option. American cheese is frequently offered and can be melted for a creamier texture. Some people enjoy other cheese varieties or mixes on their cheesesteaks.

Making More Ways to Enjoy: A cheesesteak is a hot sandwich made with thinly sliced steak, cheese, and sometimes onions, on a long roll. You can celebrate by ordering one, making it, or mentioning your favorite place. Don’t forget the onions! The Philadelphia way to say, to order, specify the cheese and say “wit” (with) or “witout” (without) onions. Also, most importantly, don’t forget the French fries!
