A prayer:

Dear God,
Compassionate Lord, may they be eternally blessed in Your everlasting peace, finding comfort in Your infinite grace. Honor their spirit, acknowledge their commitment, and express our love to them. Almighty God, Lord of Hosts, we turn to You as the supreme ruler of all. We ask that You watch over and protect our nation’s military personnel and their families. O Lord, for those families who have experienced the loss of loved ones and friends, we pray that You mend their hearts, reminding them that no one can truly replace those they have lost. We implore You to let Your peace reside within each person who remembers their fallen hero. In Jesus’ name.
Amen

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Written by Irving Berlin during World War I in 1918

God bless America
Land that I love.
Stand beside her
And guide her
Through the night with
From the mountains
To the prairies
To the oceans
White with foam.
God bless America
My home sweet home.

A Brief History:
Premise: We often think of the brave men and women in uniform who have sacrificed their lives in defense of their country and communities. This day also pays tribute to those who, in times of crisis, took the initiative to help a stranger or a neighbor and ultimately made the ultimate sacrifice.

Sacrifice in Form Without Uniform: To those first responders and good samaritans. We remember those persons who put someone else’s life ahead of their own. We honor those who give up an organ to save a life of another. We teach our children and fellow man to be honorable–with integrity, benevolence and being humble.

How to Become Involved: An ultimate sacrifice refers to the act of relinquishing one’s life for a greater cause or for another individual, exemplified by a soldier who perishes in combat or a martyr who confronts death for their convictions. Here are several instances of an ultimate sacrifice:

  • Military Service: Soldiers who lose their lives in warfare, dedicating themselves to the defense of their nation or their comrades, are frequently regarded as having made the ultimate sacrifice.
  • Martyrs: Those who perish for their convictions or ideals, including religious martyrs and advocates for human rights, are viewed as having made an ultimate sacrifice.
  • Biblical Examples: The crucifixion of Jesus is often referenced as the ultimate sacrifice, representing a selfless demonstration of love for humanity.
  • Everyday Examples: Although not always involving life-threatening situations, individuals can still make significant sacrifices for others, such as a parent prioritizing their child’s needs over their own or a friend dedicating their time to assist someone in distress.
  • Historical Figures: Figures like Panna, who gave up her own son to ensure the safety of the future king, Udai Singh, serve as historical examples of ultimate sacrifice.

More Than Celebration: Any and every day someone gives to the point of the unltimate sacrifice is a blessing. God bless!
